1. Visual inspection: Start by performing a visual inspection of the surface of the bituminous roll. Look for any cracks, splits, or holes that may be causing water to seep through. Pay close attention to areas around seams and edges, as these are common sources of leaks.

2. Use a water test: To confirm the source of the leak, you can use a water test. This involves spraying water over the surface of the bituminous roll and looking for areas where water is seeping through.

In order to carry out the water test more effectively, we advise dividing the area of the leaks into small controllable zones and we can do them iteratively (and one by one) this can help us to:

• Identify the leak more accurately.
• Use less amount of water, as we are doing the test for each zone iteratively, by using a sand barrier or any zone insulation barrier and then transferring the water to the next zone.

3. Check the condition of the drainage system and floor traps: It’s also important to check the condition of the floor traps system. If the drainage system is clogged and the insulation of it was not carried out in the right manner, it can cause water to back up and seep through the bituminous roll.

4. Check the condition of the surrounding area: Look for any damage or signs of wear and tear in the surrounding area that may be contributing to the leak. This can include issues with flashing, penetrations, or other areas of the roofing system.

5. Check the condition of the roof decking: If the roof decking is damaged or rotted, it can be a source of leaks.

6. It is important to check the roll type and their suitability for rooftop installation purposes. Using unsuitable type can cause the rolls to be torn and not to handle the higher or lower temperature

1. Clean the surface: Clean the surface of the bituminous roll thoroughly. Remove any dirt, debris, or other contaminants that may be preventing the repair materials from adhering properly.

2. Make small repairs: If the leak is caused by small cracks or holes, you can use a sealant or patching compound to fill them.

3. Use a torch: If the leaks are caused by splits or seams, use a propane torch to heat the area and apply bitumen roll pieces or mastic to seal the leak.

4. Apply a protective layer: To prevent future leaks, apply a protective layer to the entire surface of the bituminous roll. This will help to protect the surface from UV rays, water, and other damage. This layer could be gravel covered by the thermal insulation and tiles.

5. Regularly inspect: Regularly inspect the surface of the bituminous roll for any signs of wear or damage. This will help you identify any potential issues before they become serious problems.
